The Golf Club, a solid golf game with a cool course designer feature, is getting a sequel. A lot of this trailer focuses on the community that has arisen around the original game, which now sports 150,000 golf courses thanks to user generated content. The first game eventually built a following that the developers want to capitalise on for this sequel. The sequel will include in-game societies that make it easier for players to collaborate, and clubhouses that will improve as you gain more experience. Societies will be a big part of the competitive multiplayer scene. Career mode has been expanded, and you can now run your own seasons offline, Course creation is improving too. The trailer promises a Spring 2017 release. The Elder Scrolls Online has just updated to version 2.7.5, which includes the new free ‘Homestead’ update. The new changes are outlined in full in the game’s tremendously long patch notes. It might not be as extensive as the upcoming Morrowind expansion, but this update is pretty substantial. There will be 39 new homes added to the game, with the first one being made available to players for free after a short initial quest. All other homes in the game will need to be purchased with gold or crowns, and all homes will be shared across all characters on your account. There are six different tiers of housing available:
There are several other changes and additions promised in the patch notes as well, but being able to buy and furnish homes is definitely the most exciting part of the update. The patch comes in at 3.36GB. The Elder Scrolls Online is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Whether or not that experience has prepared her for Team Ninja’s punishing enemies remains to be seen, though. There was little warning of AirAttack 2’s arrival, and as such it took both our community and our staff by storm as it proved to be one of the most visually impressive and refreshing shooters available on mobile. We awarded it 5 stars in our review as well as Game of the Week honors. And, despite releasing so close to the end of the year, AirAttack 2 made enough of an impression on us that we included it in our Best Games of 2015 as well. In short, AirAttack 2 is really, really good! Anyway, it’s been more than a year since that initial release, and as great as AirAttack 2 was it did have some minor issues that needed to be addressed. Art in Games was quite active in our forums following the game’s release, and laid out some plans they had for a big update to the game. That was all the way in March of last year though, and with radio silence from Art in Games since last June it started to feel like the update would never come at all. Well, much like its initial release today that long-awaited update arrived out of nowhere, and adds in some very nifty new features. One of those is support for horizontal orientation in addition to portrait, and you can see the lovely widescreen-ness of it all in this new trailer. When switching over to landscape mode the game warns you that it’s more taxing on your device to play that way, and that leads to the next new feature in this update: The ability to adjust the graphical intensity in order to get a smoother experience and/or save on battery life. This should be especially welcome for anyone who might be playing on older devices. There’s also some new options for button layouts, and in what I’m sure will be music to many gamers’ ears, AirAttack 2 now supports MFi controllers. Finally, there are 4 new types of daily events, though mine currently seem to not be refreshing so I’m not sure what they are just yet. Hopefully that sorts itself out. Anyway, while it’s much later than anybody ever imagined it would be, I’m very excited to see an update for AirAttack 2 and it gives me a reason to dive back into this modern classic. If you haven’t checked it out previously, this is a good opportunity to do just that if you’re a fan of fancy graphics and frantic shooter action. After More than a Year, Stunning Vertical Shooter 'AirAttack 2’ Gets First Update Adding Landscape Mode, MFi Support, and More posted first on http://ift.tt/2k0LiGW via Tumblr After More than a Year, Stunning Vertical Shooter 'AirAttack 2' Gets First Update Adding Landscape Mode, MFi Support, and More Grand Theft Auto 5 is the game that keeps on giving, both to its players and to Take-Two Interactive. According to Take-Two’s quarterly report, GTA 5 continues to perform exceptionally well. DualShockers is reporting that the game has, since its 2013 release, shipped 75 million copies. This makes it the fourth best-selling game of all time, just behind Wii Sports (82.78 million copies), which it has a real chance of overtaking this year. This is a phenomenal figure, but perhaps even more impressive is the fact that GTA 5’s annual sales actually increased in 2016. The Xbox One and PS4 versions released in 2014, then the PC version in 2015, yet 2016 was the game’s second best year for sales. Niko partners analyst Daniel Ahmad provided this graph:
Even this year, GTA 5 has been topping the sales charts. GTA 5’s high sales are likely down to the frequent updates released for Grand Theft Auto Online, as well as the game’s popularity on YouTube and impressive critical reception. It’ll be interesting to see whether the game continues to grow in 2017. Nioh launched today to largely emphatic reviews. The game, from Ninja Gaiden developers Team Ninja, bears a strong resemblance to Dark Souls/Bloodborne, offering an extreme challenge and encouraging focused practice to achieve mastery. To that end, if you’re planning on playing it, you’ll want to keep our guide bookmarked. Nioh is exclusive to the PlayStation 4, and has been in development for a very long time – in fact work first started in 2004, on what would have been a very different game called Oni (based on an unproduced Akira Kurosawa script). Bethesda’s VP of Marketing and PR, Pete Hines, sat down with Kinda Funny Games to talk about the company’s games and the business as a whole. At around the 14 minute mark Greg asks Hines if Fallout 4 was a success, and the answer is a resounding yes. “Fallout 4 has gotta be the most successful game we’ve ever launched in our company’s history. More than Skyrim in terms of what we did,” he said. The question came after Greg’s point that the studio hadn’t discussed the game much, and whether the lack of conversation was due to the game’s reception, with Fallout 4 just being more of the same stuff we’d already seen in Fallout 3. “Part of it is just that phenomenon that you have some level of experience and interaction with the game already,” he answered, going on to draw a comparison with the Uncharted series. “If you played Uncharted 4, and that was your first game, I think you have a very different reaction to what that game is than if, like me, you played 1, 2, and 3 because Uncharted 4 is more of 1, 2, and 3.” Hines was also asked about the next Fallout title and how the studio would innovate for the next game in the series. “Whether it’s Fallout or Elder Scrolls, or whatever it is they’re gonna do next, I think their mantra is always ‘we really gotta step up our game’.” It’s an interesting interview and worth a watch if you have a half hour to spare. As you can see from the trailer below, the battles take place in silly levels filled with all kinds of craziness - both in the foreground and background. If you haven’t played games like Worms, you lead a team of soldiers against your opponent’s team and try to take each other out using all kinds of silly weapons. Hilarity, of course, usually ensues. You discover weapons in chests filled with cards, and then you level those weapons up. I do hope the monetization decisions don't mess this one up because I can easily see Milk War slide into a pay-to-win situation.
